War of Genesis: Idle Loot Play the overlay, not a controller

There are no combat binds. Position the 3D hero, keep the bag empty enough to loot, and let stages clear while you work.

How to Play

War of Genesis: Idle Loot advertises itself as a personal mini-battlefield on the desktop. That is literal. The client draws a 3D hero on a transparent background instead of a cluttered world map. Steam Early Access began 10 September 2026. You are a Commander, not a twitch shooter. There are no WASD combat controls, no dodge roll, and no skill bar you mash. The hero fights, loots, and walks to the next pack while you write email.

If you came from the 1990s War of Genesis SRPG, put the grid tactics down. If you came from mobile War of Genesis: Idle Heroes, put the phone gacha down. This Steam overlay does not share saves, codes, or cross-play with either. Confirm that on mobile versus Steam if a friend sent you a coupon.

Position the window so you can ignore it

The fun and the annoyance are the same feature: a glowing character in the corner of your screen. Park it on a second monitor if you have one. On a laptop, tuck it above the taskbar away from notifications. Treat placement as a window-manager job. If SmartScreen blocked launch, fix that on system requirements before you blame the renderer.

You can leave the client running while you work or while you sleep. Growth does not need your cursor on the hero. What it does need is a bag that is not full, a stage you can actually clear, and a class whose weapon is legal. Those three checks are the whole “how to play” loop after install. The Getting Started page covers the first-hour checklist; this page is the ongoing overlay habit.

Bag space is a combat stat

Drops pour in as stages run: weapons, armor, jewels, pets, wings, runes, magitech gear. Fourteen equipment slots on the character is not the same as inventory space. When the client says “Not enough bag space,” AFK combat stops. You will come back to a hero frozen mid-chapter, often still sitting on something like Normal 4-2 in Ancient Ruins, because the bag filled two hours ago.

Build a rhythm: glance at the overlay, open Equipment Forge, Auto Register same-grade piles, Combine, Dismantle the rest, then walk away again. The Equipment Forge guide is the mechanical reference. If you would rather convert a high roll into Steam Wallet funds, that is a Market action with a Diamond cost, covered in Steam Marketplace. Either path beats letting whites clog the bag.

Class-locked weapons still matter with no controls

Auto-battle does not mean loadout is cosmetic. Weapons are class-locked. A Swordsman cannot use a Hunter Bow. An Archer will not swing a Swordsman blade. Mage sticks to that line’s kit. Community databases sometimes say Knight for the melee class; the Steam client UI says Swordsman, Archer, Mage. Use the client names when you filter loot.

Named characters confirmed in screenshots include Ice Pendragon and Jane Shore. They still auto-fight. Your job is to give them a legal weapon, fill the 14 slots with the best tier you can Combine, and not mix a bow onto a swordsman because the icon looked rare. Rank those lines on the class tier list and the dedicated Swordsman, Archer, and Mage pages.

Stages, Battlefield, and AFK while working

Chapters include Ancient Ruins, Tropical Rainforest, Underground Prison, and Ice Castle. Difficulties include Normal, Despair, and Apocalypse. You do not steer packs. You pick a stage you can clear, then let the overlay grind. If clears slow to a crawl, drop a difficulty or farm the previous node instead of watching a wipe loop. AFK farming is the push-versus-sit guide.

The Battlefield window is not combat either. Tabs are Arena, World Boss, and Raid. Arena shows Score, Rank, participation reward, and time remaining. You opt in, then the numbers tick without you blocking. Join an Alliance so Raid is not a locked pane. Details sit on Raids and Arena.

Training Ground and Ability Unlock ranks SSS, SR, UR, and LR happen in menus, not in WASD space. Spend a few minutes there when you sit down, then return the hero to a corner. Paid permanent ATK, DEF, EXP, gold, and drop buffs are optional and covered in the Early Access review. Play means: place the window, keep the bag breathing, respect class locks, pick a stage the hero can finish, and check Battlefield on a timer.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Are there keyboard combat controls?

No. The hero auto-battles. Your inputs are menus: Equipment Forge, Market, Battlefield, and Training. Start with Getting Started if you just installed.

Why does the hero freeze while I work?

A full bag stalls AFK. Combine or Dismantle in the Equipment Forge until "Not enough bag space" is gone.

Can my Swordsman use a bow I just looted?

No. Weapons are class-locked. A Swordsman cannot use a Hunter Bow. Check equipment tiers and your class page before you lock a drop.

Where do I find Arena and Raids?

Open the Battlefield window. Tabs are Arena, World Boss, and Raid. Join an Alliance first; see Raids and Arena.

Can I AFK this on macOS?

No. The client is Windows 10/11 64-bit only. Hardware and the unsigned exe warning are on system requirements.
