War of Genesis: Idle Loot Diamonds versus Market listings
A slow faucet, a one-way listing cost, and no promised Steam Wallet income.
Diamonds are the scarce click in War of Genesis: Idle Loot. Gold pours from stages. Diamonds do not. Steam Early Access began 10 September 2026. Players report about one Diamond every four hours. Steam discussion threads already complain that the drip feels slow. This page is the decision tree: grow the overlay, or list on the Steam Community Market. It is not a money guide. A creator sold a Tier 4 sword for a little over $2; that is an anecdote, not a salary.
There is still no public coupon that grants Diamonds. Mobile Idle Heroes strings fail here. See the codes hub and Idle Loot vs Idle Heroes.
Where Diamonds come from
The overlay awards them on a timer while you are progressing as a Commander. Treat community timing as a report, not a studio guarantee. If your client shows a different interval after a patch, believe the client and Steam News, then come back to this wiki.
Opening-week threads also mention shop purchases spinning forever, double charges, and account holds. If a cash-shop Diamond pack never arrives, that is a billing bug, not a farm problem. File it through Steam, then read launch issues. Do not buy a second pack while the first is spinning.
Some Commanders discuss packing Diamonds in fives before a sale. Treat that as unverified player talk until the client UI makes the rule obvious. Do not sit on five Diamonds because a comment said so if your bag is already full of listable Tier 4 gear.
What a Diamond is for
Two legitimate sinks show up in the first days:
- Growth — spend into character power, Ability Unlock, or shop offers that raise combat.
- Market listing — the Marketplace window consumes a Diamond to post an item to the Steam Community Market.
The listing window is blunt: once listed, the item can be traded with other Commanders, and it cannot be retrieved or deleted. Steam still takes Market fees. That is why a Diamond is not “free money.” It is a ticket you burn. Full listing rules live on Steam Marketplace.
If you list junk, you wasted four hours. If you skip listing a high-tier drop because you spent the Diamond on a tiny Attack bump, you also wasted four hours. The Equipment Forge exists so you fuse or dismantle garbage instead of listing it.
How to choose, practically
Ask three questions before you click:
- Is the item class-locked to a tab you do not play? A Swordsman cannot use Hunter Bow. List or store it; do not spend a Diamond to “try.”
- Is your bag stalling AFK? A Diamond will not clear “Not enough bag space.” Combine or Dismantle first.
- Are you still on the first main? Training gold is cheaper than Diamonds for early Attack. See Training and Growth.
Paid permanent buffs (extra ATK/DEF for PvP, extra EXP/gold/drop, double drop) sit in the cash shop. They are why Steam reviews sat Mixed in the opening days. Diamonds you earn on the timer are the free-path cousin. Do not treat either as a requirement to clear Ancient Ruins on Normal.
What Diamonds will not fix
- Unsigned Windows 11 executables — system requirements
- Steam Login loops — launch issues
- A Market you cannot unwind — roadmap until Steam News names a mailbox
- Idle Heroes coupons — they do not grant Steam Diamonds
Community tools and player discussion expect jewel auto-combine and loadout presets. Those would save gold and clicks, not Diamonds. Confirm them on Steam News. Until then, fuse jewels by hand on the jewel fusion page and keep one main warm on the class hub.
Hold the four-hour drip until you have a drop you would actually miss. Then either grow, or list. Do not do both with the same Diamond.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How often do Diamonds arrive?
Players report about one every four hours. Confirm in your client. Listing rules are on Steam Marketplace.
Should I list my first rare drop?
Only if you can spare a Diamond and accept that listings cannot be pulled back. Read the marketplace guide first.
Can I get Diamonds from gift codes?
No confirmed Steam coupons as of September 2026. See the codes hub.
Do Diamonds replace Training gold?
No. Early Attack is cheaper with gold on Training and Growth.
Is selling loot a reliable income?
No. Fees, one-way listings, and Mixed reviews exist. This is an idle RPG, not a job.
