War of Genesis: Idle Loot Mage class

The caster tab, skill-level gates, and named heroes this wiki will not mislabel.

Mage

Mage is the caster class tab in War of Genesis: Idle Loot. Combat is automatic. You do not target, channel, or cancel. You pick the Mage tree, the staff-side weapon family, and later a named hero who can sit on that tab. Steam Early Access began 10 September 2026. This page is the caster kit and the traps around portraits, not a promise that Mage wins every mode.

Read Swordsman and Archer before you sink Training gold. The Classes Hub explains roster slots. Role ranks live on the class tier list as opening-week guidance.

The Mage tab is not a portrait

The character window lists Swordsman, Archer, and Mage as tabs beside Equipped. Ice Pendragon (white hair) is the named hero shown on that window in official media. Ice Pendragon is a collectible portrait, not a fourth class, and the published shot has the melee tab in focus. Do not assume Ice Pendragon is a Mage.

Jane Shore (red hair) appears next to the Arena panel with fire crit numbers in that still. The window does not show the class row. This wiki does not assign Jane Shore a class. Confirm the tab in your client. A third portrait occupies the Lv.70 roster slot: dark hair, red scarf, unnamed here. Requirements sit around user Lv.70 / 80 / 90. Character tiers 4 / 5 / 6 are achievement grades, separate from which tab you train.

What the caster tree actually changes

Auto-battle still reads a skill tree. Mage is the tab whose points go into caster skills rather than melee or Hunter Bow lines. Skill achievements unlock when you learn a Lv.35, Lv.65, or Lv.95 skill. If you bounce to Archer after feeding Mage to 35, you start the other tree behind.

Community DPS companions compare normal-attack DPS against skill DPS and toggle mob sweeping versus boss killing. Caster kits often look better in the skill-DPS column. Opening week is too early to crown Mage for AFK stages, World Boss, or Alliance Raids. Use the class tier list for the role split.

Weapons remain class-locked. A Swordsman cannot use Hunter Bow; Mage will have its own legal main-hands. Do not buy a Community Market bow for a caster tab. Community datamine and companion catalogs list 1,800+ items across 14 slots and tiers 1–6. Fill the Mage weapon first, then let blacksmith synthesis eat illegal junk.

Training gold, jewels, and magitech

Training spends gold on permanent lines (attack, defense, HP, crit, and similar). Do not dump that gold into Mage until this is the main you will still wear at user Lv.70. Switching characters currently means re-setting weapons and skills; Steam reviewers called out the missing character-specific loadouts. A Mage experiment that lasts one evening still costs a rebuild.

Jewels socket into gear and fuse in the forge: community tools describe six same-tier jewels combining into one higher tier. Magitech, pets, wings, and runes are separate tiers 4 / 5 / 6 tracks. Rank them on pets, wings, runes, and magitech after the caster weapon is legal.

If a Diamond listing looks better than a fuse, use the Steam Marketplace guide. Caster-only staffs are the pieces other tabs cannot steal.

Arena notes without guessing Jane Shore

The Jane Shore marketing still sits beside Arena with a score and an enter button. That proves Arena is a real Battlefield mode. It does not prove Mage is the Arena class. Opening-week PvP has no stable sample. Keep one Mage loadout you can reconstruct after a swap.

Pets and wings will not save a tree you abandoned. Skill points, Training gold, and the 14-slot grid will. Confirm the tab says Mage before socketing a staff. Leave Hunter Bow for Archer and swords for Swordsman. Recheck class ranks after the first balance pass. Portraits are collectibles. The tree is the build.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Is Jane Shore a Mage?

Unknown. She appears next to Arena with fire crits, but that window does not show the class tab. Confirm the label in your client. Named heroes are on the Classes Hub.

Does Mage still matter if combat is automatic?

Yes. Auto-battle reads this skill tree and this weapon family. A Mage cannot make Hunter Bow legal; that lock stays on Archer. Points spent here count toward Lv.35 / 65 / 95 skills on this tab.

Should I dump Training gold into Mage immediately?

No. Lock the main first. Gold is painful to waste if you reroll to Swordsman. Getting Started covers the early gold loop; Training waits until the tab is decided.

Is Mage better in Arena than in AFK stages?

Not established. Opening week has no stable PvP sample. Rank Mage by role on the class tier list and treat every Arena screenshot as flavor until more results land.

Do magitech pieces replace the Mage skill tree?

No. Magitech, pets, wings, and runes are collectible tracks with tiers 4–6. They sit beside gear, not instead of the tab. See pets and wings after the caster weapon is equipped.

Why do I rebuild the kit when I swap to Ice Pendragon?

Early Access has no character-specific loadouts. Switching characters currently resets weapons and skills. Ice Pendragon is a named hero, not a saved Mage preset. Watch the roadmap for presets.
