War of Genesis: Idle Loot Swordsman, Archer, Mage by role
AFK clear, bosses, and Arena ranked separately while Early Access is still moving.
Steam Early Access began 10 September 2026. This is an opening-week class rank for War of Genesis: Idle Loot, not gospel. Combat is automatic. Class still decides the weapon family and the skill tree, which is enough to prefer one tab for overnight stages and another for a World Boss tick. Letters below are role calls with honest uncertainty. If a patch lands, this page yields.
In-game labels are Swordsman, Archer, and Mage. Primers: Swordsman, Archer, Mage. Gear ranks sit on equipment. Collectibles sit on pets, wings, runes, and magitech. The index is the Tier List Hub.
How to read the letters
We do not publish one S–F column. A kit that deletes Ancient Ruins trash can look average on Ice Castle bosses. Arena has almost no public sample. Named heroes are not classes: Ice Pendragon is a portrait on the class window, Jane Shore is shown next to Arena (class tab not visible), and the Lv.70 slot shows an unnamed dark-haired face with a red scarf. Roster slots unlock around user Lv.70 / 80 / 90. Character tiers 4 / 5 / 6 are collectible grades.
Training gold should not be dumped before you lock a main. Switching characters currently means re-setting weapons and skills; Steam reviewers flagged the missing loadouts. Rank the tab you will still wear at user Lv.70, not the tab you might try for one achievement.
AFK stage clear (opening week)
Archer — lean pick. Hunter Bow is a legal Archer main-hand, and official overlay shots show ranged auto-combat deleting packs while you work. Community DPS tools often split mob sweeping from boss killing; Archer is the tab people park on overnight stages. That is a lean, not a law.
Mage — close second, high variance. Caster skill DPS can look strong in companion breakdowns when the tree is fed. We have no official AoE radii to quote. If your Mage clear time beats your bow time on the same chapter, trust your overlay, not this letter.
Swordsman — playable, not the AFK favorite. Melee still clears 400+ stages because the fight is automatic. Close range is simply the less obvious match for wide trash. Keep Swordsman here if you already spent melee skill points; do not reroll on day two for a gold/hour rumor.
Chapters in the achievement list include Ancient Ruins, Tropical Rainforest, Underground Prison, and Ice Castle. Class rank does not change the map names. It changes which weapon the overlay is allowed to swing.
Bosses, raids, and World Boss
Swordsman — lean pick for single-target. If your melee tree is feeding heavy hits rather than pack tools, bosses and Alliance Raids are the mode where that kit can look better than a bow. Evidence is thin. Treat this as a role hypothesis.
Mage — tied lean, same caveat. Skill-DPS calculators often like caster burst on a dummy. World Boss is a shared tick, not a dummy. Bring Mage if the staff is already legal and the tree is not empty.
Archer — still fine. Ranged does not suddenly fail a boss bar. Hunter Bow stays equipped. Archer drops a rank here only because the opening-week question is who might overkill a bar, not who cannot play.
Arena
Unranked — all three. Jane Shore’s marketing still sits next to Arena. It does not show her class tab, and it is not a win-rate table. Arena achievements exist (first win, 100 wins, 1,000 wins). They do not name a class. Until more logs exist, pick the tab whose 14-slot grid you can rebuild after a swap.
What not to do with these letters
- Do not spend Training gold on all three trees “to keep options.” Gold is the long sink.
- Do not buy a Hunter Bow for Swordsman. The toast will refuse it.
- Do not treat Ice Pendragon as an S-tier class. Equip the hero; train the tab.
- Do not import a mobile Idle Heroes ranking.
After you lock a letter, fill equipment and keep pets and wings as side tracks. Recheck this page when skill-level 65 and 95 trophies start popping in public profiles; those gates will tell us which trees people actually finished.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Who is S-tier in week one?
Should I reroll if I already trained Swordsman?
Usually no. Switching characters currently resets weapons and skills. Stay melee unless you enjoy the rebuild. Gear advice is on equipment ranks.
Does Ice Pendragon change the class tier list?
No. Ice Pendragon is a named hero on the class window. Rank Swordsman, Archer, and Mage. Portraits and roster slots are explained on the Classes Hub.
Is Jane Shore the Arena class?
Unproven. She is shown next to Arena; the class tab is missing from that shot. Arena stays unranked for all three labels. Named heroes are covered on the Classes Hub.
When will these ranks be rewritten?
After visible balance notes or when public clears at skill Lv.65 / 95 show a tree pulling ahead. Watch the updates hub and treat this as opening-week guidance.
Do pets outrank the class choice?
No. Pets, wings, runes, and magitech are parallel collectibles. Rank them on pets and wings after the tab is legal.
